The Botanist Islay Dry Gin
About The Botanist Islay Dry Gin
Islay? Islay? Where have I heard that word before? Oh, I know! It’s on a bunch of my scotch bottles!
Yes, the Isle of Islay is better known for their scotch making. But, the wonderful water and natural ingredients that abound on the island don’t make a wonderful gin like The Botanist such a surprise!Â
The eighth largest isle in the British Isles is damp and rocky but lush. And, it’s boundless flora made it a natural place for The Botanist Gin to become the second gin distillery to put down roots on the island in 2011.
Distilled on a pot still – column still Frankenstein known affectionately as “Ugly Betty,” The Botanist brings truly unique process, ingredients, and provenance to a wonderfully complex gin. Thirty-one botanicals, including twenty-two that are hand foraged, lend The Botanist a unique character that lends itself to cocktail making. Tasters appreciate juniper and sweet citrus on the tongue with a slight minty note on the finish.
The word from Anders on The Botanist Islay Dry Gin:
A beautiful dry gin with a pronounced juniper/pine flavor softened with subtle citrus. When mixed into a cocktail it adds a soft texture to the drink.Â
